Customer Sync Filters for Business Central

The Customer sync filters control which Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central customers Paystand imports automatically. You can keep importing your full customer list, or limit automatic import to customers who have an outstanding receivable.

Use the limited option when your Business Central company includes many customers who do not have open invoices, and you want the Paystand customer list to stay focused on customers you can collect from.

Existing connections stay on Import my full customer list until you choose the other option and save.

What the filter does

  • Applies only to automatic customer sync from Business Central.
  • Leaves customers who are already in Paystand in place. It does not delete them.
  • Still lets you import a specific customer or invoice yourself.
  • Asks you to confirm before you switch to Only customers with open receivables.

Apply Customer sync filters confirmation dialog

Choosing Only customers with open receivables and then Save changes opens this confirmation. Keep full list leaves the saved option unchanged.

Where to find it

In the Paystand Dashboard, open Integrations. On the Business Central panel, find the Customer sync filters card.

Customer sync filters card with Import my full customer list selected

Existing connections open with Import my full customer list selected. Save changes stays off until you pick the other option.

During setup the card stays locked until the connection is ready:

  • Before credentials are verified, it shows Available after verifying.
  • After credentials are verified, it stays locked until bank and G/L accounts are saved.
  • After accounts are saved, or once the connection is already live, the card is editable.

The two options

Import my full customer list

  • What it does: Paystand automatically imports Business Central customers, including customers who do not yet have an open receivable. The option text calls this the current behavior for existing integrations.
  • When to keep it: You need a customer in Paystand before their first open invoice — for example to take an ad-hoc payment, send a Paystand invoice, or set up a saved payment method.

Only customers with open receivables

  • What it does: Automatic sync imports a Business Central customer only when they have an outstanding receivable.
  • A customer Paystand has never seen: If their only activity is a paid invoice, neither that customer nor that paid invoice is imported automatically.
  • A customer already in Paystand: Later invoices still sync, including invoices that are already paid. If their last open receivable is paid, the customer stays in Paystand.
  • A new customer with an open receivable: The customer and that receivable are imported.

While the full list is the saved option, the card states: This changes automatic sync only. You can still import a specific customer or invoice. Existing customers are not removed.

After you save the limited option, the card states: Automatic sync is limited to customers with open receivables. Existing customers stay in Paystand; specific imports still work. It also shows Restricted sync is enabled for this integration.

What stays the same

  • Customers already in Paystand are not removed when you change this setting.
  • Importing a specific customer or invoice still works in either mode.
  • Payments, checkout, and later invoice updates continue for customers who are already in Paystand.
  • You can return to Import my full customer list at any time. That change saves without the confirmation dialog.

Current scope and limitations

  • This filter chooses which customers automatic sync imports. It does not choose which invoices to allow or exclude by dimension. That is the Receivable routing filter on the same page.
  • It does not search Business Central and add one customer on demand. If you need a customer who has no open receivable, import that customer or invoice yourself.
  • It does not remove customers who were imported before you changed the setting.
  • Existing connections remain on Import my full customer list until you save the other option.

Requirements

  • A Paystand connection to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, with credentials verified and accounts saved.
  • Dashboard access to update Integrations.
