The Receivable routing filter lets you control which Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central invoices sync into Paystand. You choose a Business Central dimension code from the invoice header and either allow only certain values or exclude specific values. The filter applies on the first sync and on every later sync until you change it.
Use this feature when your Business Central company mixes payment models or departments in one tenant (for example cash vs finance/lease, or regional departments) and you want Paystand to stay focused on the receivables your AR team should collect.

On Integrations → Business Central, the Receivable routing filter is optional and off by default.
What the filter does
- Reads the merchant-configured dimension code from the invoice header dimension set in Business Central (any header dimension code — not limited to Global Dimensions 1 and 2 or a fixed shortcut slot).
- Supports Allow list and Exclude list modes (one mode at a time).
- Optionally uses the customer card’s Default Dimension when the invoice header has no value for the chosen code.
- Uses Check impact before Save when receivables already exist, so you can preview how many open receivables would be kept or hidden.
- Can soft-exclude or hard-hide already-synced receivables that no longer match (exclude mode includes a Soft exclude option).
Where to find it
In the Paystand Dashboard, open Integrations, then open the Business Central connection. The Receivable routing filter card appears with Customer sync filters on the same page.
Example Allow list: only invoices with the selected dimension values sync into Paystand.
Allow list vs exclude list
Allow list
- Best when: A small set of values should enter Paystand (for example Project Type = Cash only).
- Missing value: If the invoice (and optional customer default) still has no value, the invoice does not sync.
- Already synced: Non-matching open receivables are hidden from the merchant Receivables list when the filter is enabled.
Exclude list
- Best when: A small set of values should stay out (for example one ACH-only department).
- Missing value: Invoices with no value still sync.
- Soft exclude (recommended): Stop pulling matching invoices going forward, but leave already-synced matching invoices visible in Paystand.
- Soft exclude off (hard exclude): Also hide already-synced matching invoices from the merchant Receivables list.
Exclude mode with Soft exclude leaves already-synced invoices in place while blocking new matches.
Coming soon — payment surfaces for hidden receivables
Today, when a receivable is hidden by the routing filter, it is removed from the merchant Receivables list and list counts. Paystand is actively finishing the same hide behavior for:
- Checkout (including pay-by-invoice / deep links)
- Payer portal open receivables
- Autopay schedules tied to those receivables
- Dashboard totals, aging, and open-invoice reminder counts
Target ship date: Monday, October 5, 2026, by end of day. After that release, hidden receivables will no longer be payable or counted on those surfaces.
Until that update ships, do not rely on soft-exclude / hard-hide alone to stop payments on already-synced invoices. You can still prepare dimension setup in Business Central, configure the filter, and run Check impact. Prefer enabling the filter before the first sync when you want non-matching invoices never to enter Paystand.
We will update this article when those payment surfaces are covered.
Current scope and limitations
- Invoice-line dimensions are out of scope. Only header dimension-set values are evaluated.
- The filter runs in Paystand after Business Central returns open invoices (and, with a current Paystand extension, Business Central can also omit non-matching invoices at fetch time).
- Customer open-receivables sync filters (which customers import) remain a separate control from receivable routing.
- Default is Off — existing connections are unchanged until you enable the filter.
Requirements
- An active Paystand connection to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- The current Paystand Business Central extension. See How to Keep the Paystand Extension Updated in Business Central.
- The routing dimension present (or intentionally missing) on posted sales invoice headers in Business Central — confirm with your BC partner if needed.
- Dashboard access to update Integrations settings.
