See, add and archive a customer's saved cards and bank accounts from the Paystand Hub tab on the customer record, and send your customer a secure link to save a payment method themselves — without leaving NetSuite.
Before you start
- Where you'll work: the customer record in NetSuite.
- Bundle: Paystand NetSuite bundle 2.34.60 or later. Paystand manages bundle updates for your account, so don't update the bundle yourself. To get this version, contact Paystand Support.
- To turn it on: Paystand turns it on for your account. If you don't see the Paystand Hub tab, contact Paystand Support.
- To request payment methods from customers: a Customer Token Email Template must be selected in Paystand Settings.
How it works
Paystand stores your customers' saved payment methods. The Paystand Hub tab shows them on the customer record and keeps the customer's payment token fields in NetSuite up to date when a payment method is saved or archived.
Paystand Hub replaces the Capture Payment Token button on the customer record.
Open Paystand Hub
In NetSuite
- Open the customer record.
- Click the Paystand Hub subtab.
Saved Payment Methods loads when you open the subtab and lists the customer's saved cards and bank accounts:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Method | The card brand or bank name and the last four digits |
| Details | The expiration date for cards, or the account type for bank accounts (for example, Company Savings) |
| Created | The date the payment method was saved |
| Actions | The trash icon, to archive the payment method |
Add a payment method
In Paystand Hub
- Click Add New Payment Method.
- Choose Card or ACH Account.
- Enter the payment details and the billing address.
- Click Add Payment Method.
Result: the payment method appears in the list right away. To see it in the Paystand Payment Token field, you'll need to refresh the customer record page. No other field on the customer record changes, unless your account has NetSuite workflows that react to new payment methods (for example, for Autopay).
Ask your customer to save a payment method
In Paystand Hub
- Click Request Payment Method.
- In Send a "Request Payment Method" email to this customer?, click OK.
Result: your customer receives the email selected in Customer Token Email Template, with a link to save a card or bank account securely.
What your customer sees
The email includes a Save Payment Method button. The content comes from your template, so your email may look different from this example.
The button opens a secure Paystand page where your customer chooses how to pay and saves the payment method. While saving it, they can also select Enroll in AutoPay.
When your customer saves the payment method, it appears in Paystand Hub and is saved in the customer's Paystand Payment Token field. If they also select Enroll in AutoPay, Paystand fills in Paystand - Default Autopay Token with it and unchecks Disable Paystand Autopay on the customer record. Refresh the customer record page to see the fields updated.
If you see No Customer Token Email Template is configured for this subsidiary, select a template in Customer Token Email Template in Paystand Settings, then try again.
Saved payment methods and Autopay
Whether a saved payment method is used for Autopay depends on how Autopay is set up for your account. If you have questions about your setup, contact Paystand Support.
Archive a payment method
In Paystand Hub
- In the Actions column of the payment method you want to remove, click the trash icon.
- Read the message and click Archive.
Result: the payment method can't be used for new payments, and Paystand removes it from:
- the customer's Paystand Payment Token and Paystand - Default Autopay Token fields;
- the Paystand - Autopay Token field on the customer's open invoices and sales orders.
Closed and paid transactions don't change. The same happens when you archive a payment method in the Paystand dashboard, and for every subsidiary that uses it.
Keep Autopay running
Autopay can't charge an archived payment method. If the customer is on Autopay, select another saved payment method in their payment token fields in NetSuite. Archiving doesn't check or uncheck Disable Paystand Autopay.
Good to know
- Capture Payment Token no longer appears on the customer record. Show Token Buttons in Paystand Settings now shows only Sync Tokens, for customers with more than one subsidiary.
- A card hold that was already placed (pre-authorization) isn't released when you archive the payment method. To release it, void it.
- To restore an archived payment method, contact Paystand Support.
FAQ
I don't see the Paystand Hub tab. What should I check? Paystand turns the feature on for your account, and your account needs bundle 2.34.60 or later. Contact Paystand Support.
Will a payment method I add be used for Autopay? It depends on how Autopay is set up for your account. Adding a payment method in Paystand Hub fills in Paystand Payment Token only. If you have questions about your setup, contact Paystand Support.
What happens to Autopay when I archive a payment method? Autopay stops using it: the payment method is removed from the customer's payment token fields and from open invoices and sales orders. Select another payment method to keep Autopay running.
