How to Configure the Payment Experience for Network Portal

Network Portal requires a Payment Experience in Paystand to process checkout flows correctly.

When a payer clicks Pay inside the Portal, the system routes the transaction to a Payment Experience named exactly:

Network Portal

If this template does not exist, or if the name does not match exactly, checkout will fail.

We strongly recommend creating a dedicated Payment Experience for Network Portal. While it is technically possible to reuse a single template, keeping a separate one makes it easier to:

  • Configure payment methods specifically for Portal users
  • Apply distinct fee settings
  • Customize branding independently
  • Isolate Portal behavior from other checkout flows

Important

Payment Experience replaces the previous checkout configuration called Billing Portal. If you do not see the Payment Experience section in your Paystand Dashboard, your account may still be using the legacy setup. Network Portal only works with Payment Experiences.

Create the Payment Experience

  1. Log in to the Paystand Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to: Integrations → Payment Experience

Payment Experience section in the Paystand Dashboard

  3. Click Create New Template.
  4. Name the template exactly: Network Portal

  5. Configure the template settings:
    • Enable the payment methods you want available in the Portal
    • Review plan and fee configurations
    • Adjust branding settings as needed
  6. Upload your company logo as a file.
  7. Save the template.

The logo configured in the Payment Experience is also used to generate payment receipts. The receipt service cannot reliably fetch logos from external URLs, so the logo must be uploaded directly as a file within the template.

How It Works

Once configured:

  • Network Portal routes all payment attempts to the Payment Experience named Network Portal.
  • The template controls which payment methods appear and how checkout behaves.
  • Successful payments are processed through Paystand and synced back to your ERP.

Troubleshooting Checklist

If checkout does not load or behaves unexpectedly, verify the following before troubleshooting further:

CheckExpected State
Template existsA Payment Experience has been created.
Template nameThe name is exactly Network Portal.
Payment methodsThe required payment methods are enabled.
Logo setupThe logo is uploaded as a file, not linked from an external URL.

Recommended

Test the Payment Experience in sandbox before production go-live to confirm checkout behavior, payment method availability, and receipt branding.
