Autopay allows payments to be collected automatically on:
- Due Date
- Specific date you set
Reducing manual work and ensuring invoices are paid on time. In addition, reminders can be sent before autopay runs to keep customers informed.
This article explains how to set up, configure, and manage autopay at both levels.
Things to know
Autopay can be set up at two levels:
- Customer level: Applies to all invoices related to the customer
- Invoice level: Applies only to the selected invoice
Set up autopay
Invoice level
1. Select the Invoice

2. Click the Autopay button

3. Select the token to use for autopay from the dropdown

4. By default, autopay runs on the due date

5. Reminders can be sent before autopay runs—select how many days in advance.

Customer level
1. Go to the Customers tab and select the customer to enable autopay.

2. Click Autopay on the Receivable Settings

3. Select the token to use for autopay from the dropdown

4. Reminders can be sent before autopay runs—select how many days in advance.

5. Click Set

6. A pop-up appears where you can apply autopay to all current invoices (overdue invoices are excluded). Select the checkbox to apply

Things to know
- Overdue invoices are excluded when applying autopay to current invoices
Disable Autopay
Customer Level
1. Select Autopay from the Receivable Settings

2. Click Disable

3. When disabling Autopay, you can also apply the change to current invoices
Click Disable

Invoice Level
1. Select the Invoice and click the Autopay button

2. Click Remove

Configure Autopay Date
Invoice Level
1. Select the Invoice and click the Autopay button

2. A specific day can be selected for autopay to run using the calendar

Updating Autopay Token
Invoice Level
1. Select the Invoice and click the Autopay button

2. Select the token to use for autopay from the dropdown

Customer Level
1. Click Autopay on the Receivable Settings

3. Select the token to use for autopay from the dropdown

Creating new Tokens for Autopay
A new token may be required for autopay in certain situations.
When to create a new token
- Insufficient funds: Autopay failed and a different account or card is required
- Expired or replaced card: The existing token is no longer valid
- Different payment method: The payer prefers ACH vs. card (or vice versa)

Autopay Schedule
The Autopay schedule determines the daily time when all autopay transactions are processed. You can configure this in the Paystand Dashboard. Times must be entered in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
